USSD Gateway

Overview:

Netx Unstructured Supplementary Services Data (USSD) is Interactive menu Driven allowing operators to provide fast and responsive services. USSD support is present across all GSM and UMTS terminals (even the most basic).

Business Problem Addressed

  • There is no fast and simple method to receive user requests for information or action. SMS is slow and clogs up the operator network easily.
  • Using SMS to request for information requires a higher level of training to the user as it involves typing in precise keyword and short-code. Instead simply dialing in a number as is the case with USSD is much simpler.
  • Marketing communication and promotion for SMS based service is clumsy and often fails to get the message across. USSD usage is much easier to communicate via mass media.
  • SMS is slow. On average a SMS request for info from a service takes more than 10 seconds (Idle load condition). USSD is fast, generate ally information is delivered in 1 - 2 seconds
  • Features:

  • Multiple Network Access (Multi-HLR, Multi-IN)
  • Application Handling with 2-way application connectors (SMPP, XML, HTTP)
  • Multi-language (MAP Phase 2 or 2+) Black and White List Management
  • MAP Phase 1, 2 and 2+ Compliancy
  • CAMEL Phase 2 Compliancy

  • USSD Campaign Broadcast
  • Benefits to the Client:

    • USSD is GSM proprietary protocol. No need for additional investments from operator end.
    • Seven Times faster than SMS
    • Higher ROI,reduces operational costs (unbilled voice calls, IVR maintenance costs)
    • Offers highly interactivity services which in turn increase ARPU.
    • Menu Driven on the server side helps in fast implementation of new services
    • User-Friendly, menu-based direct access from the mobile phone keyboard
    • Session based , faster response time to requests
    • Simple dialing sequence ,easy access to value-added services
    • Easy handling: service code can be stored on the SIM card (ADN)
    • Open dialogue: interactive applications with predictable response time Handset Independent

    Wide Reach

Unstructured Supplementary Services Data (USSD) works on all existing GSM mobile phones.

    Less Turnaround response time

Turnaround response times for interactive applications are shorter for USSD than SMS because of the session-based feature of USSD, and because it is NOT a store and forward service
